Leicester City have announced that they have signed Belgium international midfielder Yuri Tielemans from Monaco for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old has been in impressive form this season, helping Monaco to the top of Ligue 1 with his performances for the club.

Tielemans will join up with the Foxes on a three-year contract at the start of next season, with an option to extend for another year.

The move is seen as a significant coup for Leicester City, who are looking to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Tielemans will be reunited with former Monaco manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who was also the manager of Manchester United when Tielemans made the switch to the Etihad Stadium in 2016.

"Yuri is a young player with great talent and potential," said Nuno Espirito Santo. "He brings a lot of energy and creativity to our team and we're excited to work with him."

Tielemans will be joined by fellow Belgian, Kasper Schmeichel, who has signed a two-year contract with the club.

Both players were part of the Belgium squad that reached the final of the UEFA Nations League last month.

Tielemans will now link up with the likes of Jamie Vardy, James Maddison and Ben Chilwell, who have all been linked with moves away from the club.

Tielemans' signing could see Leicester City's chances of winning the Premier League increase significantly, with the club currently sitting second in the table behind Manchester City.

With the addition of Tielemans and Schmeichel, Leicester City will look to make a serious push for the title this season.

However, it remains to be seen whether the pair can help the club achieve their goals, given the challenges they face in the Premier League.
